Meeting with Michael Ditullo

1/22/11

Met with Michael Ditullo, CD of Frog Design this Saturday.  The Impact group minus Ben attended and got feedback on the Kenyan shoe prototype.

Notes from meeting:

1) Make it fit
2) Make it efficient

-  There should be low variation in look from shoe to shoe
-  The shoe should accommodate a general size 9,10,11...
-  Look for organic african fabrics

-  Make your own moccasins as reference (leather soled shoes are preindustrial and durable)
-  One piece of material is a waste,  NEST pieces to create efficiency in material
-  Calendar bottom shoes by ZARA

**Shoes are based off of shoe lasts not feet.  Feet are ugly shoes are based off of what we want feet to look like.

*Typical shoe lines in factory are 60 people with often 3 lines
*EVA foam bottoms out
*one leather strap could increase durability
* Check out Zara, Toms, and Chucks.
